(December 1, 2008): Since November 5th, following the outcome of the presidential elections, Americans in all 50 states have been consuming ammunition and firearms of all types at totally unprecedented rates. At the top of this consumption list are items like .223 ammo, .308 ammo, and AR15 - AR10 class firearms, from stripped lower receivers to full rifles. Fearing early steps towards more stringent gun control by the new Obama administration, this panic level buying is continuing into the month of December, and will probably be very noticeable as we enter the new year. Predident-elect Obama's record on gun control issues (as can be seen on the website http://www.gunbanobama.com/) is feeding this panic and severe shortages of ammunition and many types of firearms has resulted. Major manufacturers such as Bushmaster, DPMS Panther Arms, Rock River Arms, are all quoting severely extended shipping dates on most products at this time. DPMS Panther Arms actualy refuses to quote any deliveries as of this date. President-elect Obama's stance on gun control issues has already had a totally unprecedented effect on the firearms industry. It is going to be extremely interesting to see what the next several months (none the less the next four years) hold for law-abiding American citizens that own and plan to purchase firearms. ___________________________________________________________ |
(April 1, 2006): Are you an April
fool? If you live in California and have always wanted to
legally own an AR15 style rifle, but you have not yet taken
advantage of the current situation on CA, you may be! To the best of our knowledge and after all of our most recent
research on this issue, it appears as though the current CA DOJ
"loophole" regarding Stag Arms and certain other AR15 style lower
receivers is still wide open! MREguns continues to legally
ship Stag Arms stripped lower receivers to licensed California
firearms dealers legally according to Federal and CA State
law. Don't miss out on this opportunity!

(Jan 5, 2006): In an open letter to all
licensed Nevada dealers, BATF explains that Nevada CCW's are once
again legal under ATF's view relative to the purchase of firearms,
and as such qualify as an alternative to a National Instant
Criminal Background Check Systems (NICS) check. Accordingly,
the October 17, 2005 Open Letter to Nevada Federal Firearms
Licensees (FFLs) is superseded. BATF Letter of January 5, 2006

(Jan 1, 2006): In the past two weeks,
MREguns has received literally hundreds of telephoen calls and
e-mails regarding a discovered loophole in California law regarding
AR15 lower receivers by certain manufacturers. It appears as
though at least stripped lower receivers by Stag Arms, JP Rifles,
DSA, and certain other manufacturers do NOT fall under the formal
ban on "Assault Weapons" in CA due to a legal technicality.
Below you can download and read the collection of letters and
documents MREguns has been able to gather regarding this
issue. The CA DOJ gas written letters stating that The Stag
Arms lower receiver, the JP Rifles CTR-02, and the DSA "ZM4" are
currently lawful to own in California. There are reportedly
other brands and models. Consult with you CA licensed FFL
dealer regarding purchase of a CA-legal AR15 style lower receiver
while the loophole is still open. MREguns will ship Stag Arms Model Stag-15 (5.56mm caliber) and
Stag Arms Model Stag-6.8 (6.68 mm caliber) stripped lower receivers
to licensed CA firearms dealers according to normal Federal and
State laws until this loophol is closed by the CA DOJ. Pertinent Documents Letter on Stag Arms Stripped Lower

(October 17, 2005): In an open letter to all
licensed Nevada dealers, BATF explains the reasoning behind their
decision to discontinue allowing Nevada issued CCW permits as a
viable form of identification for avoiding a formal NICS background
check when purchasing a new firearm over the counter. The
letter can be seen by clicking on the link below: BATF Letter of October 17,

(October 17, 2005): Effective this date, there
is a new version of the Form 4473 that is to be used for all
over-the-counter firearms transactions. The new form is a
tri-fold form and is 2 pages longer than the previous form.
The new form is also white in color as compared to the older yellow
forms. This has been done to facilitate easy identification
of the new versions of the 4473 form from the older versions, which
are now obsolete. Customers who wish to study a copy of the
new 4473 form prior to having to actually complete one during an
over-the-counter transaction can view the form at the link

(October 13, 2005): As of October 23, 2005, a
Nevada Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit no longer qualifies as
an alternative to the National Instant Criminal Background Check
System (NICS). In a letter dated October 13, 2005 from the
Nevada Department of Public Safety, all Nevada licensed firearms
dealers were notified of this big change in daily business
practice. All Nevada CCW holders are now (as of October 23,
2005) subject to the same background check and fee (currently $ 25
in Nevada) as those who do not hold valid CCW's! Letter Dated October 13, 2005

(August 2005): In it's August 2005 FFL
Newsletter, the ATF announced that it is now recognizing faxed
copies of a Federal Firearms License as an acceptable alternative
for of verification (as compared to a signed and mailed
copy). Verification and certification of a license is not
considered valid unless a legible copy of the transferee's license
clearly identifies the name, address, license number and expiration
date of the license. Acceptance of blurred or illegible
copies of a transferee's license may constitute noncompliance with
regulations. To read the actual article in the newsletter,

so-called "assault weapons" ban has expired and is now dead!
You can now legally purchase AR15's and similar style firearms in
configurations that have not been legally available as new firearms
since 1994! Items such as high capacity magazines and
collapsible telestocks are now readily available. Be sure to

details and new firearms configurations which are now
available. American Spirit Arms Armalite Bushmaster Firearms DPMS (Panter Arms) Excerpt from the ATF website: Semiautomatic Assault Weapon Update By statute, the prohibitions relating to
semiautomatic assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding
devices expired on September 13, 2004. As a result, certain

(August 9, 2004): Effective
October 1, 2004, the charge for a NICS background check in Nevada
will increase from $ 15 to $ 25. This increase is as a result
of the same level of price increase by the Nevada Department of
Public Safety to all licensed dealers in Nevada. The $ 25 fee
is just a pass-through to my customers. I will continue to
charge you what I am charged by the state for performing the
required background checks.
