There are certain types of surprises that are
good and there are certain types that are not so good.
Purchasing or selling a firearm from/to someone is generally not
the time to be surprised by some type of previously unknown
condition, requirement or stipulation. I generally try
to keep it simple, but here are just a few noteworthy items that
are intended to avoid unpleasant surprises for both the seller and
the buyer. You should also check out the legal requirements
on my legal stuff
page for additional items related to the legal
transfer of a firearm.
1) All pricing is generall quoted to you by
telephone or e-mail in terms of a cash/check transaction. The
only two exceptions to this are my Online Gun Store and
general Online Store, where listed
pricing anticipates the use of a credit card. In general, if
you plan to use a credit card for your purchase, I would like to
know in advance, since delivered cost to you will be 3%
higher for credit card transactions. Anticipating cash or
check payment is one way that I keep my prices as low as they
are. If I don't have to pay the bank a 3% credit card
transaction fee then you save the 3% on your purchase. This
is why I always quote pricing as a cash/check transaction. I
reserve the right (in certain cases) to wait until personal checks
clear the bank (typically 10 days) before I will deliver your
firearm/item to you.
2) Pricing as quoted is good until my
price/availability from the wholesaler in question changes. I
have seen the price of firearms vary shipment by shipment from the
manufacturer to the wholesaler. When I give you a price, I
will generally tell you how long that price is good for. If
you order right away, there is typically no issue. If you
wait for a period of days or weeks, the situation can
change. The rate of change even varies by the
season of the year. If availability or pricing from the
wholesaler or manufacturer to my business changes, your quoted
price will most likely change as well, but you will always know the
delivered cost of the firearm you are ordering before I actually
order it for you, and before you make a commitment to purchase from
me.
3) I generally ask for a 25% deposit on all
special order firearms. This is almost always 25% of the
firearm purchase price, excluding sales tax and background check
fees. Exceptions include custom firearms (e.g. Les Baer
Custom), where a deposit of up to 50% may be required. My
online gun store will require a 25% deposit which is inclusive of
all charges including background check fee, shipping, and sales
tax.
4) Once I receive your deposit and order your
firearm from a wholesaler or manufacturer, your deposit becomes
non-refundable.
5) You have 30-days from the time your
firearm is delivered to me to pick it up and finalize payment
(unless we have made other arrangements in advance). If you
do not complete your purchase and pick up your firearm within this
30 day period, the final delivered cost of your firearm may change,
and I may opt to sell the one I ordered for you to
another buyer.
6) After your special-order firearm is in
stock, if you decide you do not want to proceed with the purchase,
I will try to return it to the wholesaler where it came from.
Be aware that not all wholesalers accept returns on firearms, and
the ones that do normally charge a restocking fee of 15% -
20%. I will also charge a restocking fee on top of
that. Your 25% deposit may be totally consumed by restocking
fees in such a case. So please be sure of what you want
before you place your order with me.
7) NICS background check fees are $ 25,
payable whether you pass or not.
8) All product warranty issues are with the
original manufacturer of the firearm or item that you
purchase. Be sure to fill out your warranty card and send it
to the manufacturer! This is especially important with the
Lifetime Replacement Guarantee from firearms ordered through my
online gun store.
9) I accept cash, personal checks, or Visa,
Mastercard, and Discover credit cards. I DO NOT accept
American Express. If you plan to pay by cash, please let me
know in advance, especially if you are going to be using large
bills and will need a significant amount in change (I do not
normally keep a lot of cash in the shop). Personal checks
must be from a local bank in Nevada in order to be accepted.
Remember... knowingly writing a bad check to purchase a firearm may
turn into a federal felony offense and can result in heavy-duty
fines and/or imprisonment! A conviction on a federal
felony offense involving firearms can result in a 10-year prison
term and a fine of up to $ 250,000 for the purchaser.
10) I must charge NV sales tax on all item
purchases. The only exceptions to this are if the item is for
resale (in which case I will need a copy of your NV sales tax
license) or if it is being sold to someone out of state. If
you are otherwise tax-exempt, I will need a copy of your exemption
certificate. Certain types of services such as NICS
background check fees are not subject to NV sales tax.
11) Hours are by appointment only. I am
available 7 days a week, but you must contact me before you intend
to drop in. Please e-mail
me at any time. If you are an
established customer, you already have my contact telephone
numbers.
12) Please be aware that the NV NICS
background check system shuts down at 6 pm each
day. When scheduling a time to pick up your new firearm,
you must plan around this shutdown time. Otherwise, you may
have to come back to pick up your fireram on a follow-up basis,
after your paperwork has been completed and the required NICS
background check has been performed.
13) If you are purchasing multiple firearms
at the same time, you will only be charged for one NICS background
check fee ($ 25 fee).
